A Neighbourhood Information Post programfunded by the City of Toronto
Toronto Rent Bank grants provide support to renters who are behind on their rent or need help with a rental deposit. Toronto renters may apply for a Rental Arrears Grant or Rental Deposit Grant.
Renters in the City of Toronto may be eligible for rental arrears assistance from the Toronto Rent Bank Program if they are:
- Currently renting in Toronto
- Behind on rent payment(s)
- Paying market rent for a rental unit covered by the Residential Tenancies Act (Ontario)
- Renting directly from the property owner or management company
- Have one or more sources of verifiable income
- Spend no more than 85% of household income on rent
- Own no real estate, and other assets owned do not exceed program limits
- Have not received a Toronto Rent Bank grant in the past 12 months
- Household is within low-income guidelines and is not in receipt of Social Assistance*
- Can satisfy other program requirements**

*Renters in receipt of social assistance should contact their Ontario Works (OW) or Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) office as they may qualify for the Housing Stabilization Fund.
**Please note that the initial screening requirements listed above do not include all program terms and conditions, and meeting these initial screening requirements does not guarantee a grant approval.

- Will be moving into a rental unit in the City of Toronto
